In March our product team released new capabilities for headway monitoring. Additionally, we released many improvements to the iOS and Android Rider Apps and more.
In March our product team released new capabilities for headway monitoring. Additionally, we released many improvements to the iOS and Android Rider Apps and more. This results in a more personalized user experience with unavailable transit modes able to be hidden by admins from the rider.
iOS Updates
Rider App - 2023-03-10
Improve
- Hide On Demand Tile if no Services are available. The On Demand Tile will now only show for Riders when On Demand service is available to that user.
- Hide External Codes tile if no policy for user. We will now only display the External Codes tile for eligible users.
- Move address and description of stops out of peek view. Now Address and Description fields are moved below the actionable buttons for the Stops screens.
- Update Google Maps and Places SDKs to 7.3.0. Updating for correct API usage by the Google Maps SDK.
- Improve loading indicators and accessibility on rider instance and login screen. Accessibility work.
- Add swipe-back navigation. Accessibility work.
Fix
- Fix crash when deleting route group in favorites. Correcting behavior when deleting route groups in favorites.
Android Updates
Driver App - 2022-03-23
Improve
- Update Mapbox navigation SDK to 2.x. Updating to supported version.
- Increase button text size on tablets. Increase text size for better visibility.
Rider App - 2023-03-10

Web Updates
Admin Web - 2023-03-03
Improve
- Remove experimental flag "mapTabUpdate." View On Demand User Requests and Vehicles on the Map tab in the Admin portal. This is now visible to clients, not hidden behind an experiment flag, and is ON by default for On Demand clients.
- Add day to on_demand_ride_state_outstanding_idx. This is not visible to clients but performance related. Deployed to improve performance caused by backend indexing pulling/filtering by too many records captured in ride monitoring. This will improve overall performance of filtering On Demand Rides.
Fix
- Fix column type on external_update. This is not visible to clients but related to performance. Deployed to correct device_id in external_update. This will improve ride monitoring performance and accuracy.
- Enable Vanpool Proximity Errors. This is for Vanpool-enabled instances only. Correcting this behavior. Now if a proximity error is triggered, the “Proximity Error” column in the Vanpool Rides report will have a value of True. This means the distance between the rider board location and the last known vehicle location was greater than 500 meters.
Admin Web - 2023-03-22
New
- Headway Monitoring. Turned on with Experiment Flag. Admin Web users are now able to view the headway between multiple vehicles on a single route. Analyze headway is the current module name.
- Surface Unused Vans in Vanpool Reporting. The Vanpool Vans report now has the option to view Vans with zero activity in a specified timeframe.
- API support for driver-initiated vanpool boarding. This release will now allow drivers to initiate the boarding process for Vanpool riders.
Improve
- Headway Monitoring: Display hold time at a stop to Driver. Drivers will be able to see stop hold times that help them self regulate headway with other vehicles on a route.
- Support Tags on Space Level | Parking. We will now support tags on the space level when creating spaces for parking lots. These tags are free form and intent is to support reporting based on tags and potentially use these tags in a Policy rule for fares/reservations.
- UNL: Update/Add Columns in Reservation Reports. The Rider ID column within the Reservations Report is now being populated (as long as a default name space is configured by each client).
Rider Web - 2023-03-03
Improve
- Replace usage of FlexTable in rider web with new HtmlTable type. We will replace the route timetable in the rider web with a more flexible interface for accessibility needs. Voice readers will now have an improved output.
