Driver app capabilities are expanded to allow easier bicycle counting and headsign improvements, while our Ride App now allows for requesting bike racks for on-demand trips and more. Additionally, we released many improvements to the iOS and Android Rider Apps. This results in a more intuitive user experience for drivers and riders.
iOS Updates
Driver App - 2023-04-26
Improve
- Support bicycle count in trip options. Riders are now able to add bicycle counts to On Demand ride requests.
- Animate swipe back feature. Improved performance and animation of swipe-back gesture.
Rider App - 2023-04-07
New
- Update icons for dark theme support. Since dark theme is not supported (yet), there should not be any changes to the map. With these improvements, now with turning on the Dark mode on the iOS device, all the map screens are displayed fine without having any visibility impacts.

- Support requesting a bike rack for an on-demand trip. This feature will allow the rider to select if a bike rack is required and how many bikes they will be bringing.
- Update Map Styles for theming support. Adding dark theme styling support specific to mapping.
- Improve looping trips in iOS and Android rider app. We will no longer show the "Live data unavailable" display for looping trips and we will show upcoming departures information.

- Restart fused location provider if no location is reported for 5 minutes. We will now restart the location manager if no location is detected after 5 minutes.
- Improve headsign clearing algorithm. Improved performance with headsign clearing.

- Support bicycle count in trip options. Riders are now able to add bicycle counts to On Demand ride requests. This will allow drivers to view and edit the bicycle counts.
- Only show Passes tile if token transit is enabled for region, remove experiment check also.

Admin Web - 2023-04-07
Improve
- Reduce overhead of finding outstanding FR and OD rides in RideMonitor. Performance Improvements as a result of reducing the amount of threads loading fixed route and on demand rides in the platform.
- Limit the lookback period when filling in SFMTA inactive vehicle events. This is a backend-only fix that will result in less expensive jobs running to search for inactive periods associated to vehicles (specific to SFMTA).
- Support Region-specific Rider App > Notices. Now when Admins need to create notices they will see an Add (+) icon and within the popup they will see the option to select all, multiple or a single region. Existing messages won’t be impacted - they will be retained with ALL regions selected to match the existing behavior.
- Adjust Full-Screen Viewing of Admin panel on Mobile Browsers. When viewing the admin panel in Safari or another mobile browser, the full pages can now be accessed in order to perform the functions needed.
- Add a box to select Inactive Routes on Dashboard Filter. A filter checkbox stating show inactive much like the routes page will be accessible on the dashboard filter menu and will display inactive route info if checked.
- Analyze Headway: When switching from one route to another, the previous routes stops stay visible on the Map. In the Analyze Headway module, the route stops associated to the route selected in the Route dropdown will display on the map. Now, when switching between different routes, the map will reload and only display the stops associated to the newly selected route.
Admin Web - 2023-04-28
New
- Dispatch > On Demand Rides > Filter by Status. In the Dispatch screen, within the on demand rides box, there will be a status filter which will allow users to filter on demand rides by status.
- Improve RouteListPlace. This release will allow for previously hidden links to route maps and route timetables within the rider app to become more accessible to the user. This is dependent on the work in the ticket and will not be fully deployed until it is also in Production.
Improve
- Update API document to include the 'shareLinkForUserOnDemandRide' and 'onDemandRideRequest'. NOT Customer Visible in UI, however, the API documentation is made available to clients. The onDemandRideRequest endpoint allows users to book requests in TripShot via the API. The shareLinkForUserOnDemandRide endpoint was not added since that is not a public endpoint.
- Add sticky table headers to all admin app tables. When you scroll on Dispatch, Reports, On Demand… etc, you now have columns that stay in view while you review the data! Many header rows in the admin console have been updated to be ‘sticky’ or stationary when scrolling occurs, so that the header is always visible.
Fix
- Reduce time to check for new instances in Job Runner. This is a backend-only change for the job runner to reduce replica load to decrease the time it takes for jobs to discover new instances.
Rider Web - 2023-04-07
Improve
- Use anchor tag in left side navigation in rider web apps. This fix will update the menu names intended for users that utilize accessibility functions within the Rider App.
